As it was my first time I really had no clue what to expect. Parking was hard to find so I parked about 4 blocks away which isn't very far but I can't say I felt very safe even within a block off Bourbon Street. I went looking for dinner and luckily found a really cute place where you could order your food outside at a window and sit down and watch live music. The place was called Cafe Beignet and the band playing was Steamboat Willie. It was very good and I would recommend going there but as far as I saw, Bourbon Street as a whole was dirty, smelled like stale liquor and did not feel safe. Seeing it for an hour was more than enough for me.
