While we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Borobudur and found the temple fascinating, we were inundated by with constant requests to pose for photographs with other visitors. While everyone was super-friendly, and we always said, "Yes, of course," and answered questions so that everyone who was interested could practice their English, it did require a lot more time to visit the temple than anticipated. We were there on a Sunday, and we understand that this is the day that is common for school-groups to visit. We were told by locals that school children are most likely to request photos, although lots of people will ask. I will stress that, despite the delays to pose for photos, we really enjoyed Borobudur and would recommend that you visit no matter the day. But if you have an option to visit on a day other than Sunday, it sounds like you might want to take advantage of that.
